PORTRAITURE 2 College level or University Extension Usually 3-9 sessions

In Portraiture Level 2 the students already have a firm grasp of lighting patterns and basic posing techniques. The subject matter moves on to contrast control, lighting ratios, backgrounds, types of lights, simple props, designing group photos, and other commercially applicable topics.

Each session begins with a short demonstration and then the students go right to work exploring the main techniques discussed. Jeffery works with the students as they produce their photos. Professional models are often used, as well as volunteer models from the community. The photos from this class are professional quality in every way. Many working professionals take this course to fill in the gaps of their education.

The photos above were taken over the course of 3 weeks during shooting sessions in Portraiture Level 2. It is important to note that the students in this class have only had 10 hours of instruction!!! Compare the quality of these photos with any professional portrait photographer in San Francisco and you will have to conclude that these intermediate students are producing top level commercial work. Students learn fast in Jeffery’s workshops. Above photos left to right by: Reija Bolwell, Michael White, Jeffery Luhn, Jim McMann.
